In the novel It's Kind of A Funny Story, a prominent theme is the importance of friendship and community in ones rehabilitation process. This theme is prevalent in the novel, as Craig begins in his childhood living happily and as he becomes depressed and unhappy it is the support and community of those whom he met at 6 North that truly makes him content. The importance of community and friendship is truly shown as Craig becomes content and is slowly relieved of his depression as he meets Noelle, Bobby, Humble and many others. These characters influence him in many different ways which impact him positively. The critical reason why this novel is interesting as it discusses a very prevalint problem in society. Depression and unity can impact a person positively in many ways and a support group similar to Craig's can influence every human positively. Craig's rehabilitation truly would not have been possible without his relationships he made at 6 North.
